All classes at The People’s Channel are 100% on-demand and 100% personalized to fit your needs. To take our classes, you have to first sign up for a membership. Once you’re certified on a piece of equipment, it’s yours free to rent for the duration of your membership.

Our course catalogue covers all the key elements of video production. Start with our Panasonic UX90 Camera Certification. Then, enhance your skillset with a lighting workshop. Finally, hone your editing skills with tutorials on Final Cut Pro, Adobe Premiere, After Effects, and Photoshop.

 

In addition to the classes listed below, The People’s Channel is proud to partner with the Carrboro ArtsCenter and the Durham Arts Council in regularly offering a popular class called “Make a Short Documentary in 7 Weeks.” Registration for these courses is conducted through the ArtsCenter and the Arts Council.

The Panasonic UX90 is our go-to, all-purpose camera. It’s a top-of-the-line prosumer High-Def camera with excellent sound-recording capabilities. Completing this course entitles you to free checkouts of the UX90 camera, as well as tripods, microphones, and other accessories.

 

Cost: $100

TPC’s light kits are manufactured by Lowell and come with three lights each, as well as stands, umbrellas, a softbox, and gels. This class will teach you how to light for an interview, for a narrative movie, or for whatever you might create! We’ll also address lighting safety.

 

Cost: $30

Final Cut Pro X is our go-to editing program. We’ll teach you the tricks and tools you’ll need to edit beautifully. Learn how to import footage, splice it, superimpose it, color-correct it, add titles and images, create transitions, manipulate sound, export for the web or DVD, and more!

 

Cost: $60/hour

Adobe Premiere is another powerful editing program. It’s compatible with both Macs and PCs, and does everything Final Cut Pro does — just with a different interface.

 

Cost: $60/hour

Whether you want to create unique titles or graphics for your video or enhance your digital photographs, Photoshop is the way to go. You’ll leave this tutorial with a knowledge of Photoshop’s foundations, as well as whatever specialized techniques you’re interested in.

 

Cost: $60/hour

If you’re interested in taking your titles and motion graphics to the next level, After Effects is the application for you. Learn the ins and outs of integrating sophisticated motion graphics, titling, and compositing into your video production.
