Monica Hughes is the most recent addition to Durham Community Media. She comes to Durham by way of Pittsburgh, PA, where she was the Special Projects Director for Pittsburgh Community Television (PCTV). At PCTV, Monica had many responsibilities, one of which included producing in-house programming for the station. In this capacity, she was responsible for creating partnerships with many area non-profit organizations, working with them to create programs and helping to bring awareness to these organizations and their mission. Concurrently, introducing non-profits to one of the city's most untapped resources, public access television.
Monica hopes that her experience in outreach and community media will help DCM18 become vital part of the Durham Community. “My wish is for the residents, non-profit organizations, and anyone interested in community in general, to take advantage of one what we at DCM18 have to offer – a voice, your voice," says Monica.
